His Excellency, Patrick Scullion, the Irish Ambassador hosted an evening in Nicosia at the Embassy residency in support of St Michael’s Hospice, Paphos. The Hospice presentation team: Fr Carlos Ferrero, Fr Jim Kennedy and Cameron McDonald gave a 30 minute presentation followed by a one hour Question and Answer session.
The presentation team talked about the progress of the hospice, the funds raised and the funds needed to complete the facility which will be completed in 2012. They then outlined their key objectives from the meeting, which included informing the attendees about the philosophy of hospice and palliative care, the Mission Statement of the hospice which will offer free care to all in need, regardless of nationality, religious belief or type of illness. They asked for the support of the Ambassadors with their own and the Cypriot Government when required, for introductions to the many business contacts and individuals they know so they too could be informed about the hospice and the care it will offer.
The Irish Ambassador Patrick Scullion is very keen to pass on information to other Ambassadors as he is already an avid supporter of the worldwide hospice movement.
