Hospice Christmas Tree switched on!

Today a group of supporters of Archangel Michael Hospice gathered to mark the first switching on of the Hospice Christmas tree! The Hospice is now very close to completion, the electrical supply has been approved, all wet rooms installed, children’s area and main nursing station’s completed, wet rooms in en-suites installed, oxygen supply ready to connect, areas for the Kitchen, linen storage and sluice rooms completed, air conditioning and central heating radiators installed. Marcos Efstathiou, co-ordinator for the project stated “we are now entering the final stage of project handover, we can now start to think about recruitment of staff and the opening this much needed facility” When open the Hospice will provide free palliative care for all in need, regardless of religious belief, nationality, the nature of the Illness or age. Fr. Carlos Ferrero, chairman of the steering group stated that “the switching on of our Christmas tree marks another milestone in the completion and opening of the Hospice” The Hospice will care for Children and Adult’s in a dedicated purpose built unit.

80th birthday´s Frank Alcock

Frank Alcock, one of our Eucharistic ministers, celebrated his birthday in style with 50 of his friends on Saturday 15th December at the Latin Parish Hall (his birth date was 16th December). He was joined by members of his family who surprised Frank by arriving without his prior knowledge. Frank generously provided a wonderful Buffet, all drinks and entertainment, asking only that all present gave a donation to the Hospice, he also organised a raffle for the Hospice. On behalf of all your friends Frank, Happy Birthday and on behalf of the Hospice, thank you for your generosity!!

Christmas Lunch 2012

Parish Christmas Lunch

Many thanks to everyone!!! The organizers, cooks, performers, singers, kitchen and bar help… and of course, the children! It was a fun afternoon for more than 160 parishioners!

We had all the feeling we really are a FAMILY united by the Love of God.

The raffle raised 250 euro’s for the Hospice; a further 417 euro’s after deductions was made for the Latin Parish Hall.

Paphos Ladies Corona Group

Joy Shefford, Chairperson of the Paphos Ladies Corona group today presented a cheque for €200 and a wheelchair for use by the Hospice. The Corona group who are prolific fundraisers also supported another 4 local Charities with donations. Fr. Carlos thanked the group for their continuing support.

The Hospice is now in the final stages of construction, the building will be completed in December, the lift will be fitted in February! The Hospice will offer free palliative care to all in need, regardless of religious belief, nationality or the type of Ilnness. It will also offer a dedicated wing for use by Children. Initially 10 beds will be offered, but there is an opportunity for future expansion should this be necessary.
